Most frequent questions:

All our bras have the same cut and interior strong, soft, compression fabric. The difference from the Dragonfly and Butterfly styles are the outside fabric choices. The Dragonfly bras are usually simple, solid color fabrics. They are typically more smooth, soft and very comfortable under clothing. A very popular choice for post op recovery. They are still great for workouts and long term use.

The Butterfly Collection makes use of multi-color, texture and patterns. They feature a more fun side for many who don’t mind wearing these on their own. Like our other bras they are great for workouts, post op recovery and long term use. It’s worth noting the quilted designs such as the Cloudy Crescent or any ending with the word “Cloak” typically have a little less stretch and therefore will fit tighter. These are usually a good option if you fall in between sizes. All bras are washable and will retain their compression and color.

Bottom line, all our bras will work for your recovery. It just comes down to personal preference and in some cases sizing.

Absolutely, our bras can be worn as soon as you like. However, it’s always a good idea to check with your surgeon as well. We suggest that you order early and have your bra(s) available to show your surgeon or patient coordinator prior to surgery. It is rare that a surgeon will not allow a patient to pick their own bra but it does happen. Ordering prior also ensures you are prepared for the recovery process after your surgery, if it can be avoided why wait in pain for your package to arrive.

We understand there are multiple reasons a bra could possibly not fit when you receive it. It is our goal to reduce exchanges & returns as much as possible for everyone’s benefit.

  • Please just TRY on the bra and immediately take it off. Don’t wear it any longer, don’t launder it and keep the tags on. Please be aware of any deodorant or perfume you may be wearing prior to trying on the bra in order to avoid contaminating the product. In the event you need to exchange we cannot accept returned products that are affected by these things.
  • Contact us for the reason why and to see if an exchange or refund is the best solution for you. This is in US only. International sales are final due to customs and high shipping costs. That is why we ALWAYS  encourage a customer to contact us first before buying. You can send us an email at: wesupportyou@brilliantcontours.com
  • If you have had a mommy-makeover and did not inform us then the bra may not fit due to the excessive swelling on your tummy. It will eventually fit but may take a month to fit properly.
  • You may be someone that does not like a snug band under your breasts. This is common because we all have a comfort zone that we use when buying all bras. If you contact us we can determine if a bigger or smaller size will work for you or if our bras are not meant for your situation. No bra is meant for all women and we know this.
  • We discuss our Exchange & Return policy in greater detail here. (Exchange & Return Policy)

If we do not have the bra(s) in stock we generally ship within 2 days unless it’s a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday. We pride ourselves on shipping as fast as possible because we know the pain involved with an ill-fitting bra after surgery. WE HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT!!

Not at all. We prefer you have your bra before surgery. Based on several factors we will be able to fit you and have your bras available for immediately after surgery. Those factors include:

  • The measurement 1 1/2″-2″ under your breasts without clothing on.
  • How many cc’s you are getting or what cup size you think you will be after surgery.
  • How swollen you will be. This is used mainly if a customer is having multiple surgeries such as a mommy-makeover which will affect the areas where our elastic band sits. For augmentations, reductions or reconstructions only, our bras are designed to avoid the swelling or suture areas under the breasts and should not be highly affected by the normal swelling.

The Ana’s Hummingbird Bra is made for reconstruction and surgery that requires drains/tubes/bulbs after surgery. Many mastectomy and reconstruction breast surgeries have multiple drains after surgery. The original Ana’s Hummingbird bra has been designed to be soft, yet have good compression while allowing the patient to hang drain bags either directly off the bra or via a velcro strap off the bra.

One of the founders of Brilliant Contours experienced reconstruction surgery where the drains had to be pinned to another garment during recovery and it was painful and difficult. We designed the Ana’s Hummingbird Bra and drain bags to be as accessible as possible while avoiding suture areas and to allow you to have the convenience of a drain holder in the first few weeks after surgery.

The outer fabric is exceptionally soft to the touch and the inner fabric has strong compression without being painful. You get two drain bags with your purchase that will hold up to 3 drains/bulbs per side and they are detachable so that once you have your drains removed the bra is still a wonderful recovery bra for the remainder of your healing process. It is a quality bra made of chinlon/spandex, lace and strong materials to last a very long time if cared for properly.

We ship to over 30 countries around the globe and love our international customers. There are some clarifications that international customers need to consider prior to ordering.

1. Since our international sales are FINAL we always urge you to contact us to discuss sizing and choice of styles for your situation. We work very hard to get you the correct size.

2. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING costs are much higher for us and for our customers. We attempt to use the most reasonable and fastest type of shipping,  we ship with USPS Priority Mail. We do not recommend shipping express for orders outside of the U.S. due to possible delays with border customs.

3. VAT fees or fees associated with the country of destination are not within our ability to control or monitor. Once we ship your items and they leave the US all we can do is let you know when the items arrive to your country. The customer is responsible to contact their postal carriers for further action or to pay the necessary fees to get the items out of customs.

4. Many countries take extra time to move purchases through their customs. We make every attempt to clarify and keep our products easy to X-Ray and view so that your purchase clears customs quickly. However, sometimes a country of destination may keep the item or even open it to inspect it. We do not take responsibility for any delays in customs.

The answer is, ALL OF IT! Our bra is not a one-time use product that you forget about after surgery. It’s an addition to your wardrobe! It was designed to be comfortable, fun and useful in many situations which we feel is one of the most wonderful things about the product.  You can use our bras for any or all of these situations:

1. (EVERYDAY BRA) Many women have jobs that require a sturdy yet comfortable bra. Some of our clients are nurses, grocery clerks, dog groomers, construction workers etc. These ladies need something that does not rub into their shoulders, provides support and yet can be comfortable after 12 hours on the job. These bras especially our DRAGONFLY Collection are loved for this reason. They are smooth, exceptionally soft and can adjust to your comfort level.

2. (SPORTS BRA) Rather you have had breast surgery or not and just need a fantastic compression sports bra, this is the bra for you. The inside fabric is soft yet high compression. The outside fabrics are colorful but also compress. Some are 4-way spandex/nylon and others are 2-way spandex/poly.

3. (POST-OP BRA) It doesn’t matter if this is your first surgery for augmentation, heart surgery, lift, reduction or a reconstruction for a mastectomy or a redo, these bras were invented with you in mind. Many of us have had some type of breast surgery and we know the pain and discomfort firsthand of a poorly fitting post-op bra. We suffered through this and decided all women deserve better. Thus, this company was born. We will help size you, make recommendations on fabric and style choices. Give us a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Our bras are intended for most women to be worn comfortably while they recover. However, if a woman is shorter than 5’1″ or very short in the upper torso this may present a problem. If you view our bras you will see that they are longer on the torso for a reason. The elastic band is cut at approx. 1 1/2-2″ below the breast line to avoid sutures and swollen areas. Short women or women with short torso’s may find them too long in which case the band rides near the waist which will not allow a proper fit at all, or the bra may ride high up on the chest and under the armpits. If this is the case, unfortunately we cannot accommodate that small of a size with the bra still being effective for what it was designed for. We suggest calling to talk with one of our representatives to see if the bra will be right for you. Comfort and compression is our goal and if our bras will not give you comfort during your recovery or work-outs then this may not be the bra for you.

Our bras are designed to fit snug under and over the breasts with good compression. They are very versatile and fit a wide range of women but there are exceptions. We always strive for comfort to help in the healing process. When a women gets DD+ breasts then we are concerned about the pressure over the breasts being uncomfortable if the bra is in the XS-Medium range. This comes down to a personal preference. Some of this also depends on the breast size (cup) prior to surgery. An example would be a female with a petite figure getting very large implants for her size: The band size my fit correctly but not enough to cover the bust correctly.

This is why we value our customer service so much. We will do our best to inform you up front and get you in the best fitting size.
